Polyacrylamide applications
Polyacrylamide (PAM) is a linear polymer with a wide range of industrial applications. It is a hard glassy solid at room temperature and can be dissolved in water in any proportion to form a uniform and transparent liquid. The following are the applications of polyacrylamide in different fields:
Oil extraction. Polyacrylamide is used as oil displacing agent, clay stabilizer and water loss reducing agent to help improve oil recovery.
water treatment. As a flocculant and adsorbent, it can effectively reduce turbidity, promote the aggregation of suspended particles, and facilitate sedimentation and filtration.
Textile and printing. Polyacrylamide is used in textile processing, sizing agents, catalysts and fuel fixatives in printing and dyeing slurries.
Mining field. It is used in processes such as flotation, sedimentation and solid/liquid separation to improve the settling speed and extraction rate of mineral particles.
Paper industry. Polyacrylamide is used to increase the retention rate of fillers and pigments, enhance the dry and wet strength of paper, and improve printing performance.
Food Industry. It is used for cane juice clarification in the production of cane sugar and beet sugar, as well as for feed protein recovery, enzyme preparation fermentation broth clarification, etc.
In addition, the applications of polyacrylamide include soil improvement, electroplating industry, construction industry, etc. Due to the different molecular weight and ionicity of polyacrylamide, it has diverse applications in different industries.
